Without team work you struggle to survive as a rep.

Many employers use group exercises to test a candidate's performance and ability, and they are a very good indicator of someone's confidence, motivation and enthusiasm. The team assessment stage will usually require you, and a number of other potential candidates, to come up with a solution to a problem, all within a specific time frame.

Remember to always smile during this part of the selection process as the recruitment staff will be continually watching and monitoring the candidates. This bit of advice should be applied all the way through the recruitment day even if things go wrong.

During the exercise, you will be given a specific scenario to deal with and you'll have to decide amongst yourselves the most appropriate method of resolving the issue. The key to success here is to discuss the solution amongst yourselves.

During the exercise, you will often see candidates fighting to get their views Across and in some cases shouting over other candidates. This does not put across the correct message as you are not showing your ability to work and listen to others.

Many candidates will start talking over the top of other people, but this is not the best way to approach the assessment. This is where you will have the opportunity to demonstrate you have the right qualities to work as part of a team and come up with answers to problems.

The solution or answer that the team come up with doesn't have to be the right one. However, the panel are looking for you come up with a logical solution. The main skills they are looking for during this section is your ability to listen to other people and acknowledge what they are saying and your ability to bring other people into the discussion.

If you can do this it will show to them that you have the skills required to succeed as a holiday rep. Imagine if a customer was trying to talk to you, the ideal response would be to listen to them not to start talking over them.
